We have a start date now. After a couple of successful meetings, our contractors, Maysand, will arrive on site on June 10th.
In the meantime, we are getting things ready for them, and a good start has been made on the research. Thanks to the staff at Stockport Heritage Library, I have been going through five boxes of archive materials relating to the Church, including information from the Second World War and some meeting minute books from the 1890s, and 1920s. Jolly interesting stuff. Did you know that if you were living in area from 1941, you would collect your new ration books from Wycliffe over a two or three week period in May?
This beautiful, personalised souvenir plate will be part of the exhibition when the project is complete. Mention of personalised plates has so far been found in 1898, but it is unclear if this is from that date.
