Wycliffe is keen to work with the local community, and hope that the church will once again become a centre for activities and events. Our new community room is accessible, has a hearing loop system, and accessible toilet. There is also a sink and tea making facilities. If you think your group may wish to meet here, please get in touch.

Community Garden

We already hold garden tidy/litter pick events with the help of local group Love Heaton Norris, and are looking at establishing a Community Garden on the corner plot of Georges Road/Wellington Road North. This is intended to provide gardening opportunities to those who have no garden and wish to socialise with like-minded folks, spend a bit of time outdoors and help with fitness. Please contact us if you are interested in this project.

Garden tidy/litter picks events are held a couple of times a year

Social Saturdays

This is a brand new project funded by the Stockport Local Fund for local people who want a change of scenery and a chat. Social Saturdays are held on the first Saturday of the month (except January) from 10.30am – 12.30pm. Pop in for a cheap drink and cake/biscuits, have a chat and look at our history exhibition. Held in the new community room which is fully accessible, has a hearing loop system and accessible toilet facilities.

You can also sign up to our mailing list for updates/advance notice of other events – just fill in the form on the Contact page.

Paramount Boxing Club

Paramount trained at the church from 1999 to 2014 until they had to move out, but are now back with a ten year lease and great plans for the future! A great deal of restoration work had to take place to bring the area back into a useable state, and they are now back to a regular programme of training sessions.

Paramount is a not for profit community organisation run by Mick Kenyon and a group of volunteers who provide not only boxing but fitness and social provisions for the Heatons and surrounding areas.

Heritage Open Days

Guided tours and a history talk took place as part of 2019 Heritage Open Days, and was very well received. Tours are now held as part of the Heritage Open Days in September and special group tours/talks can be arranged.
