Thank You!
A huge Thank you to Steve, Dave and Marcus at Stockport County who kindly nominated Wycliffe for the bucket collection at their 140th birthday celebration match – a pre-season friendly against Preston North End on Saturday 29th July. Also much appreciated was the help of collectors Emma and boys from our friends Paramount Amateur Boxing Club, and Marcus, Stockport County Historian. We raised an amazing £480.86 ! THANK YOU to all who donated and showed an interest in the church. The money will go towards running costs to keep the church open, so we can welcome everyone on our Social Saturdays – next one is Saturday August 5th.
Historic Logo
Stockport County have also produced a fabulous limited edition commemorative scarf and shirt which features Wycliffe Church in the centre of the logo! The striking white outline contrasts the dark navy blue, the earliest mention of the colours worn by the original Heaton Norris Rovers. In 1883 lads from Wycliffe’s Sunday School joined with others to form Heaton Norris Rovers, which became Stockport County in 1890.
