Well that’s it, the second round form has been submitted to the Heritage Lottery Fund for restoration works to the church. We have applied for £218,500 to repair the stonework, stained glass window, steps and entrances, including an accessible lift. Internally, a partition would create a comfortable area for worship and community groups to use, including a kichenette and accessible toilet. Research would also be conducted into the church’s history, of which very little has been published/researched so far. The findings would be shared in a booklet and displays – and there would be an event for the 2019 Heritage Open Days!
We would like to thank the local community groups who have been so supportive and helpful during our development phase, and are keen to see the church as a thriving community asset once again. Thanks to Love Heaton Norris, Age UK Stockport, Stockport Heritage Trust, Paramount Boxing Club and Asda Reddish and Stockport.
Thanks also the AllChurches Trust and the Garfield Weston Foundation who also support this project.
The potential for the future is exciting, but for now, it’s fingers crossed, and your prayers would be much appreciated.
